Welcome — I’m Sarah. I offer specialist one-to-one English tuition built entirely around you. Whether you’d prefer to learn face-to-face in Saltash or online from wherever you are, I’m here to help you feel more confident, enjoy your English, and reach the grades you’re working towards.
About Me
I’m a qualified, DBS-checked English teacher with over 15 years’ experience, and I genuinely love helping students discover what they’re capable of. I work with learners at every stage — from SATs and Functional Skills through to GCSE and A-Level — and because no two students are the same, I never teach from a one-size-fits-all script. Instead, I take the time to understand how you learn, where you’re getting stuck, and what you want to achieve, then build each lesson around that.
I take particular care with SEND students and anyone who feels anxious about English or exams. My lessons are calm, patient and pressure-free, so confidence has room to grow alongside the marks. Whether you’re aiming to catch up, keep up, or push for a top grade, I’ll give you clear, practical strategies and plenty of encouragement along the way.

My PGCE earned me Qualified Teacher Status and grounded me in how students genuinely learn — lesson planning, assessment, and adapting my teaching to different abilities and needs. It's what lets me teach the curriculum with real confidence and shape every session around the student in front of me, rather than a fixed script.
Bachelor's Degree in English Literature
Sept 2010 - June 2014
I graduated with honours in English Literature, spending four years immersed in everything from Shakespeare to contemporary fiction. It gave me a deep understanding of language, analysis and the craft of writing — the very foundations I now pass on to my students, and the reason I can meet you at any level, from close reading to essay technique.

My TEFL qualification trained me to teach English as a foreign language, giving me clear, structured techniques for breaking the language down into manageable steps. It means I’m well placed to support non-native speakers, as well as any student who learns best with a patient, methodical approach.

I’ve provided one-to-one English tuition to learners of every age, background and ability across Saltash, Plymouth, Liskeard, Callington and online, guiding students through SATs, Functional Skills, GCSE and A-Level.
